DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2025RW1119
ABSTRACT Background Child immunization plays a critical role in preventing numerous diseases. However, the COVID-19) pandemic has profoundly disrupted healthcare systems globally, including routine child vaccination programs. Objective To provide an overview of the reduction in vaccine coverage among infants and children during the pandemic and analyze the potential impacts of decreased child immunization during this period. Breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic: what do we know so far?
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2022RW6609
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to conduct a literature review on safety in breastfeeding in mothers with COVID-19. An integrative review of national and international literature was carried out. Methods The search took place in the SciELO, LILACS and MEDLINE® databases. Results A total of 25 scientific articles that specifically addressed the theme of breastfeeding and its risk and protective factors for infection by SARS-CoV-2 were selected. According to the studies analyzed, although the presence of viral RNA had already […]

Serious adverse event: late neurotropic disease associated with yellow fever vaccine
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2020RC5041
ABSTRACT The yellow fever is a systemic disease that was under control due to the effective campaigns against the vector and promotion of vaccines programs. However, since 1999, outbreaks appeared because of inefficient control of the vector, and led to the need of amplifying the immunization in large scale against the yellow fever virus, and consequently, raising the risk of adverse reactions to the vaccine. We report a case of previously healthy infant, who was referred to our care service, […]

Latent tuberculosis infection and tuberculosis in children and adolescents
DOI: 10.1590/S1679-45082018AO4090
ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the characteristics of patients diagnosed with tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection. Methods: A retrospective study, between 2012 and 2015, with data from patients of Programa Einstein na Comunidade de Paraisópolis. To evaluate possible factors associated with patient’s sex and diagnoses of tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection, χ2 or Fisher’s exact tests were used for qualitative variables, and Mann-Whitney test for quantitative or ordinal qualitative variables. Results: A total of 77 patients were evaluated. Age ranged from […]

DOI: 10.1590/S1679-45082015AO2967
ABSTRACT Objective: To identify and compare behaviors of children during vaccination, who were prepared or not for the procedure using an instructional therapeutic play. Methods: A quasi experimental study, with quantitative approach of 60 children aged 3 to 6 years. The child’s reactions were recorded in a checklist. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and Fisher’s test. Results: The main reactions in the experimental group were stay still (25;83%) and spontaneously collaborate (24;80%). In the control group, the […]
