Highlight ■ This method enables surgeons to visually identify the lesion pathway without intraoperative imaging, enhancing precision and workflow. ■ A practical, cost-effective alternative to high-end technologies such as electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy and hybrid operating rooms. ■ Metallic wires offer excellent intraoperative visibility on the lung surface, supporting their clinical utility. ■ All nonpalpable nodules were successfully resected, with no complications related to the preoperative localization procedure. ■ CT-guided preoperative localization of nonpalpable pulmonary lesions using a purpose-built device demonstrates […]

ABSTRACT Objective To describe an experience in the preoperative localization of small pulmonary nodules and ground-glass lesions to guide minimally invasive thoracic surgery; in addition, a literature review was conducted, including the main advantages and disadvantages of the different agents used, and site marking in a hybrid operating room. Methods A retrospective search was conducted in a Interventional Radiology Department database, between March 2015 and May 2019, to identify patients undergoing preoperative percutaneous marking of lung injuries measuring up to […]

ABSTRACT Objective: To identify pediatric caregivers’ reactions in outpatient surgery settings. Methods: A quantitative descriptive/exploratory survey-based study involving application of a semi-structured questionnaire to 62 caregivers in two hospitals. Results: Most caregivers (88.7%) were mothers who submitted to preoperative fasting with their children. Nervousness, anxiety and concern were the most common feelings reported by caregivers on the day of the surgery. Conclusion: Medical instructions regarding preoperative procedures had significant positive impacts on patient care, and on patient and caregiver stress […]
