Highlights Probable sarcopenia plus malnutrition was significantly associated with unplanned readmission. Overlap of probable sarcopenia and malnutrition was an independent risk factor for readmission. Certification of whether the patient is malnourished and/or sarcopenic preoperatively is necessary.
