Kenneth Gollob

Dr. Kenneth Gollob studied molecular biology at the University of Colorado Boulder, and then completed a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and National Jewish Health in Denver, CO. His postdoctoral training was performed at DNAX Research Institute, Palo Alto, CA, with Dr. Robert Coffman on Th1/2 differentiation. Dr. Gollob has held positions as a Visiting Associate Professor and Visiting Scientist at Stanford University School of Medicine and the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, respectively. He was an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and held research positions at SRI International (USA), and A.C.Camargo Cancer Center (Brazil). Currently, he leads a group focused on translational immunology in cancer and infectious diseases at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Gollob’s research interests include defining immune mechanisms and biomarkers of disease progression, adverse event development, and response to therapy in cancer and infectious diseases.

 

Claudio Roberto Cernea

Dr. Cernea is a Head and Neck Surgeon. He graduated from the Universidade de São Paulo School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his residency in General Surgery in 1980 and his residency in Head and Neck Surgery at the same Institution in 1982. He was hired as Attending Surgeon at the Head and Neck Service of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Universidade de São Paulo – School of Medicine in 1985. He obtained his PhD Thesis in 1991 from the Department of Surgery, Universidade de São Paulo School of Medicine. In 2002, his professorship thesis was also approved. He held Visiting Professorships at many renowned Institutions globally. He served as President at the Brazilian Society of Head and Neck Surgery and as Director of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies. His current activities include Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery of the Universidade de São Paulo School of Medicine, and a private practice in Head and Neck Surgery at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil.

Jacyr Pasternak

Jacyr Pasternak is an infectious disease physician and clinical microbiologist. He graduated from the Universidade de São Paulo Medical School in 1963 and after completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hospital das Clínicas, he completed his education and became a hematologist. His interest to understand the reason why many patients died from infection led him to change gears and became specialized in Infectious Diseases in cancer patients. Dr. Pasternak was a distinguished fellow at Texas University Cancer Center, MD Anderson Hospital, infectious disease service directed by Dr. Gerald P Bodey from 1980 to 1981. His current activities include working as a clinical microbiologist at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein Clinical Laboratory.

Edna Terezinha Rother

Edna Terezinha Rother studied Library Sciences at de São Carlos School of Library and Documentation (EBDESC) and then completed a specialization course in Systems Analysis and Development at the Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado. She holds an MBA in Information Management in Health Sciences from the Universidade Santo Amaro. Currently, she leads a Library System at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil, and serves as Managing Editor of einstein (São Paulo) journal.

Sidney Glina

Dr. Sidney Glina graduated in Medicine from the Medical School of the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1977. He completed his residency in General Surgery (1978 – 1980) and in Urology (1980 -1983) at the Hospital das Clínicas of the USP. He was a fellowship in Conjugal Infertility at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1983. He completed a Ph.D. in medicine at Medical School of the USP in 1991. Dr Glina became a Professor at the Centro Universitário Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in 2008. Currently, he is professor of urology at the Centro Universitário Faculdade de Medicina do ABC. He is former Editor-in-Chief of the International Brazilian Journal of Urology from 2012 to 2020 and einstein (São Paulo) from 2009 to 2021. Dr. Glina was co-chairman of the publication committee of the International Society of Sexual Medicine from 2002 to 2019. He is also former-president of the International Society of Sexual Medicine (2000-2002) and the Brazilian Society of Urology (2006-2007).

    Dr. Alexandre R. Marra is a researcher at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, São Paulo, Brazil, and a permanent professor in the Postgraduate Program at the Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein (FICSAE). He received his medical degree from the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Santos (FCMS) in 1996. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo/Escola Paulista de Medicina (UNIFESP/EPM), finishing in 2000. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Infectious Diseases at UNIFESP/EPM in 2002, followed by a PhD in Infectious Diseases from the same institution in 2004. Following his doctoral studies, he completed postdoctoral training in Hospital Epidemiology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) from 2004 to 2005 and at the University of Iowa from 2016 to 2020. Dr. Marra’s academic interests lie in infectious disease prevention and hospital epidemiology. His current research focuses on the epidemiology of healthcare-associated infections, including bloodstream infections, hand hygiene practices, and infection control strategies in intensive care units.

    MD, PhD, is professor of the Graduate Program of the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein. She is a researcher at Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein.
