Aortic calcium score predicts early outcomes in aortoiliac revascularization
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2025AO0527
Highlights ■ The calcium score can be calculated using computed tomography angiography. ■ The aortic calcium score was associated with amputation and subsequent revascularization within 30 days. ■ The calcium score in below-the-knee arteries was higher in the patients who underwent subsequent revascularization and amputation at 12 months. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the association between lower limb artery calcium scores in preoperative computed tomography angiography and outcomes of patients with critical limb ischemia who underwent revascularization procedures in the aortoiliac […]

Robotic endovascular peripheral arterial interventions: a proposal of a new learning model
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2024AO1058
Highlights ■ The learning curves for robotic peripheral arterial interventions were short, with optimal procedure and fluoroscopy times and radiation emission achieved after the 3rd procedure. ■ There were no differences in learning curves in relation to previous experience or main focus of work. ABSTRACT Objective: This study tests a suitable model for training robot-assisted peripheral vascular interventions and examines the learning curves of endovascular surgeons with different levels of previous experience and main focus of work, analyzing procedure time, […]

Robotic cardiac surgery for removal of iliac venous stent embolized in the right cardiac chambers: a case report
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2024RC0943
ABSTRACT A 42-year-old female patient with a surgical history of iliac venous angioplasty with stenting developed dyspnea on exertion 9 months later. Chest computed tomography angiography revealed a fractured vascular stent in the right cardiac chamber. Doppler echocardiography confirmed that the stent was anchored by the tricuspid valve, causing mild obstruction of the right ventricular filling. The patient underwent robot-assisted cardiac surgery with stent removal, annuloplasty under general anesthesia, and cardiopulmonary bypass via an axillary incision. No sternotomy, cardioplegia, or […]

Spontaneous renal artery dissection: angioplasty with stent implantation in one-year follow-up
DOI: 10.31744/einstein_journal/2022RC6570
ABSTRACT Spontaneous renal artery dissection is an unusual and idiopathic condition in most cases. In young, mildly symptomatic patients, diagnosis may be difficult, frequently culminating in delay in treatment. This report presents the case of a 40-year-old male patient, with severe hypertension of sudden onset, and difficult management of oral medication. In etiological investigation, Echo-Doppler of renal arteries showed signs of hemodynamically relevant right renal artery stenosis. Arteriography showed presence of double-lumen and thrombus in the vessel lumen, indicating dissection. […]
